PowerVision’s first consumer drone: PowerEgg

PowerVision was seeking a high precision and stable GNSS receiver, as well as excellent and fast customer service to develop its PowerEgg consumer drone.

In August 2016, PowerVision launched its first consumer drone, PowerEgg, in North America, Europe, and China.

Challenge
PowerVision was looking for a high precision and stable GNSS receiver, as well as excellent and fast customer service for its first consumer drone, PowerEgg, to make a success of it at first try.

The u-blox solution
u-blox came as the ideal partner, with its wide GNSS technology offering, experience with UAV products and the technological support it could provide locally to ensure quick time to market. The project started in January 2015 to reach completion in summer 2016.

"We needed a high performance and certified GNSS solution for our first consumer drone and we trusted u-blox’s excellent reputation with regard to the development of UAVs," explained Wally Zheng, CEO at PowerVision. "The u-blox concurrent GNSS module, NEO-M8N, was therefore the right choice for us," he added.

u-blox NEO-M8N is a multi-GNSS module with concurrent reception of up to 3 GNSS (BeiDou, GPS, Galileo, GLONASS). It is an industry leader with a –167 dBm navigation sensitivity. Other features include security and integrity protection, as well as advanced jamming and spoofing detection. It is backward compatible with the NEO-7 series, which is also embedded in some of the smart rearview mirrors from Jeavox.

The collaboration with PowerVision is expected to continue with the advent of new technologies.
