Korea’s leading and most innovate mobility enabler endorses u-blox’ LISA-U200 UMTS modem
Seoul, Korea – Sep. 30, 2013 - Swiss-based u-blox, a global leader in cellular and positioning modules and integrated circuits, has received approval for a customized version of its LISA-U200 UMTS/HSPA wireless module from SK Telecom, Korea’s largest mobile telecom operator with over 50% market share. SK Telecom is the leading provider of multimedia services and connectivity to over 24 million customers throughout South Korea. The LISA-U200 provides both voice and data connectivity (5.76 Mb/s uplink and 7.2 Mb/s downlink) over UMTS networks worldwide.
The certification allows the LISA-U200 modem to be used in a wide range of consumer and industrial M2M applications operating over SK Telecom’s nation-wide 3G network including vehicle infotainment, supply chain management, point-of-sales terminals, industrial automation, metering, security, and portable consumer devices. With this certification, the LISA-U200 fully satisfies all SKT network specifications and requirements related to GMMP and FOTA.

The LISA-U200 is a state-of-the-art embedded wireless UMTS/HSPA module delivering voice and high data-rates over 3G networks. It is intended for consumer, automotive and industrial applications. For telematics devices, the series provides easy integration with u-blox GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou and QZSS receivers.
LISA modules come in SMT form-factor and have a very small footprint, allowing easy mounting on any application board. The LISA form factor enables easy manufacturing, as well as layout compatibility with u‑blox’ GSM/GPRS and LTE modules. Support for A-GPS and u-blox’ unique CellLocate® positioning technology is embedded to facilitate advanced telematics applications including indoor positioning.
Features include worldwide UMTS network compatibility, backwards compatibility with quad-band GPRS/EDGE, low power (idle mode only 1.5 mA) and operating temperature -40 to +85 deg. Celsius. RIL software for Android and Embedded Windows is available free of charge.
LISA modules are manufactured in ISO/TS 16949 certified sites and are fully qualified according to ISO 16750 - Environmental conditions and electrical testing for electrical and electronic equipment for road vehicles to provide high durability and reliability.
