Job Description

This is a great opportunity to join our team working on next generation GNSS positioning chips and software.

We are an established team of 7 embedded software engineers who enjoy writing drivers in C for newly designed hardware on an ARM-based platform. We work in close collaboration with the hardware team who provide to us the new custom ASIC/FPGAs and boards, and other software teams who provide the operating system level software.

If you have a passion for embedded software development, using ASIC/FPGA platforms, and seeing new hardware features come to life thanks to software, especially those in the signal processing domain, then please consider this position.

This role is located in Tampere, Finland.

Your responsibilities:

  • Design and implement firmware drivers in C to run on our chips
  • Write unit tests and integration level tests to verify software features
  • Write verification self-test code to run on the target to verify new hardware features
  • Review and refactor code, analyze feedback or nonconformities, fix bugs, debug problems and provide workarounds
  • Verify/characterize receiver functionality and performance, including boot ROM verification and chip bringup
  • Take part in the complete development process of platform development, able to work closely with hardware experts on hardware improvements for the next generation.
  • Maintain driver support for older platforms

Your skills and experience:
  • MSc or PhD in electronic engineering or equivalent
  • You shall have minimum 5 years experience in the following areas:
    • Embedded software development in C, with some signal processing application, on ICs such as wireless transceivers
    • Debugging SW on FPGA platforms (e.g. Lauterbach), ASIC bring up, ARM-Cortex CPUs
    • GIT, Jira, JAMA, Agile roles and ways of working (e.g. Kanban)
    • Modern continuous integration / delivery (e.g. Gitlab, Jenkins, Docker), python/perl scripting, DevOps principles, automated testing
  • Knowledge of how to write drivers for system peripherals like I2C, UART, USB or for custom hardware like FFT accelerators, DSP or both
  • Experience of development using real-time OS or baremetal schedulers
  • RTL simulation experience would be a plus
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly in a multi-site but small agile team
  • Good English communication skills, oral and in writing
