Job Description


The Senior Test Engineer for GNSS Verification is responsible of test development and verification of positioning and navigation algorithms for different use cases such as standard precision, high precision, integrity, and precise timing. This role aims at acquiring good knowledge of GNSS technology and embedded Software by interfacing directly with the engineering and signal processing teams, capturing the test needs, and bringing them to definition, implementation, and execution. Understanding the new requirements and how to verify the functionality is part of the work. This requires collaboration with our test hardware and infrastructure team, product verification team as well as our platform evolution team for the overall goal of delivering high quality positioning firmware products for our customers.

This role is part of the GNSS Verification team under the Verification and Validation group, which is responsible for the definition, development, planning, execution, and review of the tests of u-blox positioning products. This role requires participating as part of a multicultural, friendly, and highly collaborative team split between Switzerland and Finland. This role requires analysis skills which will enable finding issues and working with colleagues to resolve them. This role deals with multiple requests and optimizing daily work according to the priorities that are set with colleagues.

Your responsibilities:

  • Understanding the new positioning and navigation feature requirements and how to verify them.
  • Define, implement, and document test cases for GNSS system verification.
  • Execute and review tests for verification of requirements and specifications.
  • Report on accuracy and integrity of automated test results, identify defects and non-compliances.
  • Work with development teams to analyse requirements, reproduce problems, and support solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of daily operations, lab maintenance, remote test environments and tools, and test framework hardware and firmware evolution.
  • Create documentation for developed solutions.
Your Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience as Software / Test Engineer.
  • M.Sc. in Software Engineering, Telecommunications, or equivalent experience.
  • Familiar with Perl and Linux.
  • Familiar with GNSS technology and embedded software development.
  • Good understanding of revision control systems (Git).
  • Experience with lab tools like signal simulators, oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience on serial communication (uart, usb).
  • Basic understanding of hardware schematics and test boards.
  • Requirements and task management tools (e.g. TestRail, Jama, JIRA).
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • English fluent both written and spoken.
  • Pro-active attitude and a strong desire to collaborate.
Bonus Points
  • Experience on Embedded Systems
  • Experience with Python, Matlab, C, C++, or similar scripting languages
  • Knowledge of RF signal concepts, noise figure, measurements of key RF parameters.
