u-blox opens a new office in Athens; Expansion to bolster short range wireless technology development
Thalwil, Switzerland and Athens, Greece – June 18, 2015 – u‑blox, a global leader in wireless and positioning modules and chips, officially inaugurated its new office in Athens, Greece. The opening follows the acquisition of the privately‑held VC Antcor, a developer of Wi‑Fi baseband intellectual property (IP) last year, and demonstrates u‑blox’s commitmentto developing short range wireless technologies applied to the Internet of Things.
Attending the opening ceremony, Herbert Blaser, Senior Director at u‑blox, said: "The new Athens office will further strengthen our chip design capabilities for short range wireless communications. It will also expand our ability to deliver robust, end‑to‑end M2M communication solutions to the market."

The new facility is located on the top floor of a new building in the Maroussi region, which is known as a hub for high‑tech companies. u‑blox plans to double the current team in the coming months by attracting highly qualified software, IC and hardware engineers.
