Frequently Asked Questions

Backward compatibility: Is it possible to use lead-free modules in a leaded assembly process?

Yes. The lead-free products from u-blox are backward compatible. This means that the lead-free products are suitable for the leaded assembly and soldering process without any changes.

Recommended processing?

Please refer to the ANTARIS 4 System Integration Manual.

What is the impact on sensibility to moisture?

The MSL (Moisture Sensitivity Level) for our lead-free products remains at 4 (four) which corresponds to 72 hours factory floor time after opening the sealed bag.

Are leaded products still manufactured after lead-free products are available?

No.

How does u-blox label lead-free products?

The labels comply with the JEDEC JESD97 standard for identification of lead-free products. Please note that we have kept the type numbers (e.g. TIM-LC) unchanged as the lead-free products are backward compatible and suitable for existing leaded assembly processes.
