The LEA-5T Precision Timing GPS module is ideally suited for applications that require highly accurate timing, high sensitivity, low power consumption and USB connectivity.
The LEA-5T features a Time Mode function whereby the GPS receiver assumes a stationary 3D position, whether programmed manually or determined by an initial self-survey. Stationary operation enables GPS timing with only one visible satellite and eliminates timing errors which otherwise result in positioning errors. The accuracy of the time pulse is as good as 30 ns, synchronized to GPS or UTC time. An accuracy of 15 ns is achievable by using the quantization error information to compensate the granularity of the time pulse. A built-in time mark and counter unit provides precise time measurement of an external signal ("EXTINT0" input).
Powered by the 50-channel u-blox 5 positioning engine, the LEA-5T module provides unparalleled acquisition and navigation performance. u-blox 5's dedicated acquisition engine, which boasts over 1 million correlators, is capable of doing massive parallel time/frequency space searches, providing a Time To First Fix (TTFF) of under 1 second. The engine's -160 dBm acquisition sensitivity enables acquisition and tracking performance in the harshest signal environments, including weak signal environments such as urban canyons or covert locations. Once the GPS signals are acquired, the acquisition engine passes them to a dedicated tracking engine and switches off. This enables efficient power management without compromising on performance. Innovative technologies suppress jamming sources and mitigate multipath effects, giving u-blox 5 GPS receivers excellent navigation performance in the most challenging environments.
