u-blox is a worldwide active GPS Solution Provider

Thalwil, Switzerland, November 12, 2002 - u-blox markets its products to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), which integrate and utilize u-blox' GPS miniaturized subsystems to enhance the functionality of their products and to supply specialized sub-functions.

u-blox is a leading international, Swiss-based position technology provider founded in 1997 with 41 employees. u-blox' main differentiating factors include technological leadership, in depth understanding of target market which are the automotive and mobile communications segment along with the ability to provide application specific solutions providing its customers with a time-to-market advantage.

GPS Receiver Products

GPS systems are used world-wide by customers in a broad range of applications - for car navigation, road pricing systems, fleet management, telecommunications, or security systems, just to name a few. Since 1997, u-blox has been able to successfully realize a great number of projects.

u-blox has developed and successfully commercialized its GPS receiver modules to a vast number of customers worldwide. Indeed, u-blox was selected as the GPS solutions provider of large-scale and innovative projects, including the Swiss Road Pricing System (LSVA) and the first ever launched GPS/GSM compatible mobile phones (Benefon and GAP).

New ANTARIS GPS receiver technology

Over the last two years u-blox has invested heavily into a new GPS receiver technology. Based on innovative circuits for the radio frequency section, state-of-the-art micro-processor hardware and extensive software a new performance level in GPS navigation could be reached. Sensitivity, accuracy and speed largely improved and provide visible effects for the end-user: Much better and accurate positioning information.

The development has been conducted in partnership with other technology companies, mainly Atmel Germany, a leading manufacturer for silicon integrated circuits. Products are available in the form of chip sets or receiver macro-components.

Around the world

Based in Switzerland, with headquarters in Thalwil near Zurich, u-blox with its subsidiaries on all three continents works in close cooperation with their customers to add value to their products whether through technology innovations and custom specific adaptations. The expansion of the product range based on the ANTARIS GPS technology will allow to increase market penetration and to help customers to create more of innovative products that excel in fulfilling customer needs.
