u-blox Products Manufactured Under ISO/TS 16949:2002 Global Automotive Supplier Certification

THALWIL, Switzerland -- July 9, 2004 -- u-blox AG announced today that all its GPS receiver products will be manufactured under ISO/TS 16949:2002 certification, confirming the company's strong commitment to quality and reliability.

The ISO/TS 16949, based on the ISO 9001:2000 quality standard, defines the quality management system requirements for the design, development, production, installation and service of automotive-related products.

"ISO/TS 16949 certification means improved quality products and processes, resulting in greater confidence for our customers," said Jean-Pierre Wyss, u-blox Vice President, Production and Finance.

Manufactured by Flextronics, an ISO/TS 16949:2002 certified company, all u-blox products undergo a thorough production test with maximum test coverage including the full GPS detection and processing path - from antenna input to data output. An X-ray examination with automatic image analysis identifies and discards units with potential faults, running in parallel with a reliability test to tackle problem areas at the earliest stage. u-blox products are fully traceable so production-related information and test results can be retrieved and analyzed immediately. Collectively, Flextronics and u-blox are able to discover the source of potential quality problems and correct them.
