u-blox to demo new A-GPS GALILEO receivers at Mobile World Congress

Thalwil, Switzerland -- February 8, 2008 -- u-blox, the leading Swiss provider of GPS receiver technology, will showcase its latest A-GPS and GALILEO positioning solutions at this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona alongside an array of new technologies.

The show, which runs from 11-14 February, is amongst the world's largest telecommunications tradeshows and is expected to attract around 57,000 visitors this year, providing a unique opportunity for mobile network providers, product manufacturers and distributors to meet and exchange views.

u-blox will be promoting its latest technology innovations including ultra-fast 50-channel u-blox 5 GPS and GALILEO-ready receivers. u-blox 5 single chips, chipsets and modules feature 1 second Time-To-First-Fix, the fastest in the market. Endowed with award-winning SuperSense indoor GPS and KickStart weak signal acquisition and tracking technologies, u-blox 5 receivers have been specifically designed for GPS-enabled mobile phones and other battery-operated portable devices that operate in difficult indoor environments such as urban canyons, train stations and shopping malls.

u-blox will also be showcasing new services like AssistNow free A-GPS, which enhance receiver performance, enabling instant positioning anywhere, in any environment. AssistNow services make the long waiting times usually associated with standard GPS acquisition performance a thing of the past, even in difficult signal conditions. u-blox’ AssistNow Offline service provides assistance data valid for up to 14 days, enabling applications that do not require connectivity at every start-up. AssistNow services enable a wide range of uses including E-911 and E-112 applications and location based services. u-blox 5 products support OMA SUPL, RRLP and RRC standards and thus offer global interoperability.

"u-blox 5 chips and modules were specifically designed to meet the strict space and cost requirements of mass market mobile devices. Together with our recently introduced KickStart technology and our free AssistNow A-GPS services, u-blox 5 offers users ultra-fast acquisition performance, even in weak signal environments, reasserting our leadership in positioning technology," said Thomas Seiler, u-blox CEO.

Currently in mass production, u-blox 5 chips and modules are standalone GPS receivers that come in a wide array of form factors. Their compact, self-contained architectures can be quickly and easily integrated, offering original equipment and device manufacturers reduced development costs and minimal product time-to-market. u-blox' booth is located in Hall 2, H37.
