BG Tech Selects u-blox GPS Receivers to Power Camera and Radar Detector Solutions

BG Tech's Snooper THALWIL, Switzerland -- May 11, 2006 -- BG Tech, the Korean-based market leader in speed camera and radar detection equipment, has chosen the LEA-4A and LEA-4H GPS modules developed by u-blox AG, the leading Swiss provider of innovative GPS receivers, to power their flagship products.

Police use stationary cameras and radars, as well as mobile laser guns, to identify drivers breaking the speed limit. BG Tech's innovative products use GPS technology in combination with databases containing speed camera location data to provide customers with up-to-the-second information on when and where they need to respect speed limits.

"We are proud that BG Tech has chosen u-blox GPS technology for their market-leading Camera Detector and Radar Detector solutions. The combination of our state-of-the-art GPS receivers with their industry-leading know-how makes products that ensure safe driving through the provision of accurate, reliable and up-to-date information," said Adrian Tan, VP, u-blox Asia Pacific.

The Camera Detector product range in which the LEA-4A modules will be deployed features an up-to-date database of the exact location of speed cameras. The database also provides users with additional location information about schools, hospitals and other services. Camera Detector has already enjoyed great success in the UK, France, the Netherlands and Finland. The Radar Detector product line also incorporates camera and radar detectors that warn users when mobile speed detection devices are being deployed, helping drivers to stay within the speed limit. The product, which is already a hit in Japan, also offers users information on parking and service areas, for instance.

Mr. J.K. Park, R&D Director at BG Tech, said: "With u-blox' GPS modules powering our products, we have an opportunity to become more competitive in terms of quality, performance as well as price." "Moreover, we have been greatly impressed with the level and quality of u-blox' support," he added.
