u-blox introduces new Software Release for ANTARIS™ GPS Receivers.

Thalwil, Switzerland, 20. June 2003 - u-blox, a provider of GPS based positioning technology, has introduced a new version of ANTARIS™ GPS Software which lets ANTARIS™ GPS receivers operate with lower overall power consumption and additionally offers new power-saving functions.

The new ANTARIS™ GPS Software release 2.11 for the TIM-LP and TIM-LF macro components contains advanced algorithms which lead to a reduction in power consumption of 10 mW without compromising performance. In addition, the new software contains the innovative FixNow™ low power mode which enables intermittent operation with configurable active and sleep times. This function is ideally suited for applications with very limited power budget, for example battery-operated handhelds and autonomous tracking units.

The software provides high flexibility and a wide range of configurable parameters. These parameters can be stored in resident memory to make them effective after power-up. As an additional option, u-blox provides the ANTARIS™ SCKit (Software Customization Kit) for integrating user code into the ANTARIS™ GPS receiver.

Software release 2.11 is available immediately in all u-blox' ANTARIS™ GPS receiver products: Macro-components, GPS receiver boards and u-blox support products. The ANTARIS™-based GPS receivers from u-blox excel with high accuracy, four navigation calculations per second, fast time-to-first-fix achieved with 16 receiver channels and 8192 simultaneously operating time and frequency search bins, low power consumption, high sensitivity and an effective multipath mitigation scheme. The ANTARIS™ based GPS receivers provide reliable information on signal quality, navigation accuracy and validity for every position fix issued.
